Toeknuckles

Toeknuckles is a project by SMC: Seriously Modified Collective, a group of artists pushing the boundaries of customized sneakers. The project’s originator described the brand voice as “drinking Ciroc on the stoop,” inspiring a unique aesthetic that merges high-end style with gritty authenticity. Unlike traditional e-commerce sites, Toeknuckles.com serves as a showcase for these one-of-a-kind creations and a platform for potential collaborators to reach out.

The process

Branding Approach

The branding for Toeknuckles was built around the concept of “Luxury-meets-Street.” Drawing from the project lead’s vision, I crafted a visual identity that was both elevated and raw. The design embraces high contrast and photography that commands attention, creating an editorial feel that captures the essence of wearable art.

Website Design

The website’s layout reflects a maximalist philosophy—bold, expressive, and true to the project’s spirit. By focusing on striking visuals and clean typography, the site remains impactful yet approachable. Every page is designed to be a digital canvas, inviting users into the world of Toeknuckles while encouraging them to connect and create.

Messaging

The site’s content centers on art as an exercise in free will. This message resonates throughout, reinforcing that Toeknuckles is about more than just shoes—it’s a celebration of creativity and individuality.

The Result

Toeknuckles represents a fusion of my design passion and artistic philosophy. This project is a testament to the power of collaboration and the endless possibilities of creativity. As the project evolves, the website will continue to serve as a hub for inspiration and connection.
